Betty is a former children's librarian with the Barry-Lawrence Regional Library in Monett, Missouri. She was also the assistant editor at the Monett Times. She is passionate about the Ozarks and her heritage and enjoys writing about the area for both adults and children. |

She has published poetry, magazine articles, newspaper
columns, written short stories and the novel CHILD SUPPORT,
published by Hard Shell Word Factory (for
more info go to http://www.hardshell.com) This
book is a 2002 nominee for the independent e-book awards.
She is presently marketing a children's picture book titled
EXTRA-SPECIAL SOOPER-DOOPER OZARK ICE CREAM CONE: A KID MYSTERY and
working on both a period novel and a juvenile book set smack in the middle
of her husband's salvage yard. Betty also has a short story in both Mysteries of the Ozarks, Vol. I and II published by the Ozark Writer's Inc. She also has a story, When Lilacs Die, in the anthology Echos of the Ozarks, Vol. 1, published by the Ozarks Writers League that came out late in 2005. |

Betty serves on the board of the Missouri Folklore Society (for more information go to http://www2.truman.edu~adavis/mfs.html)and, with her husband Ben, has hosted a bi-weekly musical program running October through May, the McDowell Gold Jubilee, for the past 24 years. In addition, she does public performances on the musical heritage of the Ozarks through her character, Granny Dingle. She also plays upright bass and sings in a country band. |
